freedropper image converter privacy
Privacy details for the freedropper Chrome and Microsoft Edge extension.
Image processing
Image processing: Image files are converted in the extension. When you right-click an image from an external website, the extension requests permission for that image host if needed and then fetches the image from its source server. You can instead save the image and select the local file.
Storage
Storage: The extension saves your preferred interface language locally. When you choose a context-menu image conversion, the source image URL and output format are stored temporarily in browser session storage and deleted when the conversion workspace retrieves them. Image files are not saved to extension storage.
Data and network requests
Data sharing: The extension does not send images, conversions, or saved preferences to freedropper servers and contains no analytics or advertising scripts. Fetching an image makes a direct request to the image host; that host may log the request. Visiting freedropper.com separately is subject to the website privacy policy, including its cookies and advertising.
Installation and removal
Installation and removal: On first installation, the extension opens a welcome page on freedropper.com. When removed, it opens a goodbye page. These URLs identify the browser type but include no personal identifier. Website visits are covered by the website privacy policy.
Permissions
Permissions: contextMenus adds image-conversion actions to image right-click menus. storage saves the language preference and temporarily passes image URLs and formats into the workspace. sidePanel opens the image converter beside the current tab. Optional host permission is requested for an image source only when needed for a user-chosen conversion.
