GIF to TIFF Converter
Convert GIF to TIFF using a real file encoder. Control resolution, sharpening and color adjustments, plus lossy quality where supported. Animated GIF input uses the first frame only.
Why convert GIF to TIFF?
Use TIFF when your next application needs graphics software that accepts basic TIFF images. GIF uses an indexed palette of up to 256 colors per frame; this still-image conversion reads only the displayed/first frame of animated GIFs.
The converter decodes the GIF image, applies your selected size or appearance adjustments, and writes TIFF output. This exporter writes baseline, uncompressed RGB TIFF rather than every TIFF compression or metadata profile used by professional workflows.
Before you download
- If the original image is animated, this still-image converter does not preserve the full animation. Use a frame or animation tool when you need every frame.
- This output does not preserve the source transparency in this implementation; choose a suitable solid background.
- The exporter writes baseline uncompressed RGB TIFF; it is not a CMYK or layered print-prepress export.
Instructions
- 1
Choose a GIF image stored on your device.
- 2
Adjust any displayed resizing, background or quality controls, then convert to TIFF.
- 3
Download the actual TIFF file and inspect its appearance before discarding the source.
About this tool
Convert GIF to TIFF using a real file encoder. Control resolution, sharpening and color adjustments, plus lossy quality where supported. Animated GIF input uses the first frame only.
Transparency is composited on a selectable background color. TIFF is uncompressed baseline RGB. Browser image decoder support varies.
Practical questions
What changes between GIF and TIFF?
The tool decodes a GIF image and encodes its pixels into a new TIFF file. Changing the extension alone would not perform this conversion. An animated GIF may contain many frames. Ordinary still-image converters do not preserve the entire animation.
What should I check before using the result?
TIFF output uses a basic uncompressed RGB representation. Do not assume that source EXIF metadata, layers, color profiles, or multipage TIFF content survive. This page exports a still image rather than a complete animation. If the source contains multiple frames, do not expect its playback or frame timing to be preserved; use an animation-specific tool for that.
