What changes when converting WEBM to WAV?

WAV is useful for editing, transcription pipelines and apps that prefer uncompressed PCM audio. Your WEBM input is first decoded with the browser’s available codecs.

Output sample rate, channel count, gain and fades can change the exported recording. WAV is often larger than compressed audio, and conversion cannot recover quality already lost in a lossy source.

Before you download

  • Some input codecs depend on the operating system and browser.

About this tool

Convert a compatible WebM audio recording into WAV audio.

WAV output can be larger than the input. Audio decoding requires format support in your browser. No MP3 encoding is provided.

Practical questions

What does this tool produce?

The tool applies the requested change to decoded audio samples and exports the result. It does not rewrite the original file in place. The source audio is decoded before export. Output encoding and compatibility depend on the selected format and the codecs available in the browser. The WEBM source must be decoded by the browser before it can be exported as WAV.

What should I check before using the result?

WAV output is uncompressed PCM and is often much larger than MP3, AAC or Opus; decoding a lossy source into WAV does not recover discarded quality. Listen to the result for clicks, clipping, abrupt cuts or altered loudness. Keep the original recording for further edits.
