Why convert JPG to DDS?
Use DDS when your next application needs texture tools accepting uncompressed DDS data. JPEG photographs use lossy compression, so artifacts and missing detail in the original are already baked into its pixels.
The converter decodes the JPG image, applies your selected size or appearance adjustments, and writes DDS output. This exporter writes uncompressed RGBA8 DDS data, not BC7/BC3/ETC2 block-compressed GPU textures.
Before you download
- Converting from JPEG cannot restore detail that the original JPEG compression already discarded.
- The result is an uncompressed texture file. It does not provide BC7, BC3, DXT or ETC2 GPU compression.
